2016 911 R

Back to reality for Porsche wingless GT3 RS

What was essentially a 911 GT3 RS sans the wild looks and race-bred interior, what really set the 991.1-generation 911 R apart was the 6-speed manual transmission, as Porsche did not offer a manual for its GT3 of that era. Because of this, the 911 R was lauded as an instant collectible by enthusiasts and one of the great Porsche road cars of its time.

Finished in White with Red stripes over a Tarpan Brown leather interior with Pepita seat inserts, this 2016 911 R shows just 507 miles on the odometer and comes with a BOSE sound system and Automatic Climate Control (which were no-cost options), Sport Chrono Package, and Front Axle Lift System.

As you would expect for such a low mileage example, the exterior is in excellent condition and void of any defects, and the interior is as perfect as the day it left the dealership. The car comes with manuals, keys, two scale models, a car cover (with Red stripes), and service history, with its most recent work completed in October of 2022 at Porsche Englewood in NJ.

After launch, some of those lucky enough to receive an allocation for one of the 991 examples were asking eye-watering sums for their cars. Still, auction prices settled around the $500k mark almost immediately. After a slight dip into the sub-$400k range, the market has been fairly stable between $400-500,000 for the last three years, bar the $1m sale we featured earlier this week.

Although finished in White, our Spotlight car was “THE” White and sold at a market correct price of $481,000. I can think of worse places to park half a million dollars. Fair deal.
