2016 911 Targa 4 GTS 7-Speed

The end of an era

The 991.1 GTS represented a key turning point in the Porsche 911 lineage. Building on the Carrera S platform, it combined the 3.8-liter naturally aspirated flat-six with enhanced performance features like center-lock wheels, a slightly wider rear track, and unique design cues. Its placement in the lineup provided a thrilling, high-revving driver’s car that approached GT-level engagement without fully committing to track-focused compromises. Crucially, it marked the end of an era as the last non-GT 911 to come equipped with the most powerful normally aspirated engine on offer, cementing its legacy in the Porsche line up.

This 2016 911 Targa 4 GTS 7-Speed came finished in Carmine Red over a Black leather and Alcantara interior and showed just 97 miles on the odometer. It was very well optioned with plenty of extra leather on the interior, even including the air vents, as well as LED headlights, and BOSE for an original MSRP of $169,560. Being such a low mileage car, it was in as-delivered condition as evidenced from hundreds of photos in the gallery. Definitely one to keep on ice.

When people ask me what cars to buy that will either hold their value or increase during the next run, I always suggest looking for am “end of an era” example. The 991.1 GTS definitely fits the bill as it was the final N/A non-GT car with the most powerful variant of the 3.8. And the market has tended to agree, as Targa 4 GTS have been on the up and up lately. This one, of course, finished on “the up” due to mileage, selling at a final bid of $178,000, the second highest we’ve seen in the last five years, only behind the example sold at The White Collection last December. Hold on to her, and see where she’s at in five years. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
