2017 Boxster 6-Speed

With new 718s on showroom floors, how are early cars performing?

Launched for the 2017 model year, Porsche’s 718 Boxster was a drastic change from the 981 that preceded it as it switched from a naturally aspirated flat-six to a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. And although the new engine was more fuel efficient, it did offer more horsepower and torque. Other changes to the suspension and styling gave the car a more modern, refined, and technically advanced experience with improved performance, but at the cost of that NA feel.

This 2017 Boxster 6-Speed is finished in Black over a Black and Bordeaux Red leather interior and shows 17,000 miles on the odometer. It was optioned from the factory with 20” Carrera S wheels, Premium Package, Light Design Packge, PDLS, and more for a very good-looking car. The gallery shows hundreds of detailed photos and includes plenty of service history, although paint meter readings are absent. Overall, a very nice, well-equipped example.

The 718 market has taken a hit recently falling from an average price of about $50,000 in May of this year, to sales struggling to pass the $45k mark over the last few months. Our Spotlight car sold at a final bid of $40,050, which is a new low for a car between 15,000 and 45,000 miles over the last twelve months. Now that 718s are available on dealer floors, it looks like all years are pushing downward, despite the fact that the ICE engine will be discontinued in 2025. Well bought for now.
