2022 718 Boxster Spyder

This Shark deserved all the money. What happened?

Breaking cover in June of 2019, Porsche’s 718 Spyder upped the ante on the standard 718 models with not just a more aggressive body featuring a new front bumper and larger rear diffuser, but also a non-turbocharged 4.0-liter engine derived from the 992’s 9A2EVO engine. Making an impressive 414 horsepower and 309 lb-ft of torque, the Spyder sprinted to 60 mph from a standstill in just 4.2 seconds with a top speed of 187 mph. A quick little bugger, and a welcome normally aspirated option.

This 2022 718 Boxster Spyder came finished in Shark Blue over Black and showed 10,300 miles on the odometer. It came nicely optioned from the factory with Carbon Buckets and PCCB brakes and was lightly modified with GT3 RS-style shifter paddles and GT4 RS-style PDK shifter. Also adding to the looks were crazy fish-themed seat inserts from P1Designs, which looked amazing, although quite quirky (but easily removed).

The last six months have not been kind to PDK-equipped 718 Spyders as bids have hovered between $104,000 and $114,000, much less than the $124,000 average the cars saw in the six months prior. But, the vast majority of cars were not specced like this one. Given that, I’m not surprised the seller did not take the $108,000 final bid, as with PCCBs and Carbon Buckets, I’d expect closer to $120k, even with bids looking a little meek.
