2024 718 Spyder RS

And the first Spyder RS to hit the auction market sells for...

Porsche’s 718 Spyder RS is a proper send-off to the line that started in 1996 with the original Boxster’s debut at the Geneva Motor Show. The RS is fitted with a 493 horsepower naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six, just like the one found in the GT4 RS, but its sport suspension system has been tuned slightly different offering a softer, more dynamic open-top driving experience. The Boxster sure has come a long way in 28 years.

This 2024 718 Spyder RS is the first to cross the auction blocks and is finished in Ruby Star Neo paint, perfectly suiting its aggressive looks. It has been optioned with Porsche’s Weissach Package, Front-Axle Lift System, BOSE, and more for a total MSRP of $197k. It is missing PCCB Brakes and Sport Buckets, but to be honest, I probably would have left those off as well as my Spyder RS would most likely see more backroads than track time. With only 80 miles on the odometer, this car is in as-delivered condition.

Our Spotlight Spyder sold at a final bid of $256,000, $59k over MSRP. What’s interesting to me is that at that price, it is more than any other GT4 RS has previously sold for at auction up until ten days ago when we saw a new high of $274,999. It will be interesting to see what others bring as they come to market.
