Porsche 911 GT2 RS Weissach Price Update

Good Morning! Rough day in the market yesterday, especially if you were a modified 964. After a big weekend and a solid day of online auctions Monday, yesterday was a dud. Let’s hope it was just a one-off and not a look into the spring market.

  • All market metrics took a dip yesterday with our sell-through rate falling below 70% for the first time in quite a while. And with our highest sale at $64,500, it’s no wonder our total dollar volume was so low.

While there is never a shortage of low-mile 2018 911 GT2 RS’ available on the market, they’ve held fairly steady over the year in the $400-450,000 range with a few dipping below $400k when you start to get around 4,000 miles, which is exactly what this 911 GT2 RS Weissach package had.

Previously listed in September of 2022 where it fetched a high bid of $355,500, this GT Silver Example failed to sell and was relisted last week in hopes of a better result. Unfortunately for the seller the car only realized a high bid of $299,999 this time around. What gives?

For one, the CarFax vehicle history report shows a repair incident in February of 2021. The seller states that this was due to a strut tower failure which is a known factory defect. Pictures of the original damage as well as the Porsche Certified repair and receipts are present in the latest listing.

What changed in the last six months however is how CarFax is reporting the incident. In the 2022 listing, the CarFax report shows the damage as “minor”. The seller reached out to CarFax and opened a case but since then, the damage has been upgraded to “major” as reported in the latest listing.

While the strut tower failure is common and has been addressed on other cars we’ve seen for sale, the fact that the CarFax is a mess definitely hurt the bids here, and will probably hurt bids in the future as the car is now fairly well-known to the online auction community.

While unfortunate for the seller that CarFax’s inaccuracy has killed the sale twice, they should have taken the original $355,500 and they know it as the car now has a Buy It Now price of $345,000 in PCARMARKET’s Deal Tank. At that number, it would be the lowest price paid at auction for a GT2 RS Weissach in the last twelve months and would be an absolute steal.
