Built from 1992 through 1995, Porsche’s 968 Clubsport was a lightweight version of their final four-cylinder transaxle car aimed at enthusiasts looking for a more track-oriented ride. With less sound deadening, crank windows, no rear seats, lightweight Recaro racing seats, and a revised suspension, the 968 Club Sport earned the “Performance Car Of The Year” award in Performance Car magazine in 1993. Never offered here in the US, many 968 Club Sports have found their way here post their 25th birthday.

Our Spotlight car, the 1993 968 Club Sport pictured above, is finished in Maritime Blue over Black with Maritime Blue wheels and has roughly 43,000 miles on the odometer. It is presented in lovely condition with no paintwork and plenty of service history, paint meter readings, and leak-down test results. It sold yesterday on Bring a Trailer for $83,000.

Now there are typically two markets for 968 Club Sports, the EU market and the US market with the EU market a bit softer with the US clamoring for the forbidden fruit we never saw here new. That being said, two UK cars have reached over $80k in the last five years but here in the US, this is a new record sale and the first US car to see over $80k. Although previous high sales had less mileage, the Maritime Blue paint on this one sealed the deal.

Having been imported last year from France, I’d imagine the seller made out fairly well here as EU Club Sports were trading around $40-50k at that time with ~40k miles. Well sold on their part.
