Good Morning! Of all the cars that sold yesterday, the one we’d want to drive is the fully electric Boxster as it would give us a look into the the future as Porsche prepares to take the next 718 electric.

  • With quite the rebound from yesterday’s down market, we were one sale away from crossing back into the million-dollar territory. But I guess we can’t really complain with an 85% sell-through rate.

Porsche’s first water-cooled Turbos have risen steadily over the past five years and show no signs of stopping as recent sales have shown. And when a low mileage example comes out of the woodwork, expect big money for a 996.

The 996 Turbo pictured above is a 2003 6-speed example finished in Slate Grey Metallic over Graphite Grey leather. Compared to Turbo’s of today, it is lightly optioned, but the right boxes were ticked. Our Spotlight car has the X50 Turbo Power Kit with larger turbos and intercoolers and a tune for 444hp and 547 lb-ft of torque along with some aluminum trim and supple leather.

But what really sets this 996 Turbo X50 apart is the mileage. At 4,900 miles, this is the lowest mileage car to sell this year and the third lowest mileage car to sell in the last five years and as you would expect, the car is spotless. “You could eat off the undercarriage” is an understatement.

Six days ago if you had asked me what this example would fetch I would’ve pegged it north of $140k, maybe even $150k, as cars with 13-20,000 miles have peaked at $125-130,000 recently. So for this 4,900-mile example to sell at $131,000, even though it’s the highest price paid for a 996 Turbo this in the US in the past five years, I’d say it was well bought.
