In the Racing Yellow corner, riding on factory 20” 718 GT4 wheels in dark satin over PCCBs and fitted with full buckets with deviated stitching, we have a 2,000-mile 2021 718 Cayman GT4 6-Speed. And in the Carmine Red corner, riding on Satin Black wheels over PCCBs, with full buckets and a Carbon interior package, we have a 10,000-mile 2016 Cayman GT4 6-Speed. Let’s get it on!

The market for 981 generation GT4s has risen steadily from its low at the beginning of 2021, where cars averaged just about $85,000, peaking in the fall of 2022 at the $95,000 mark. Since then, it seems to have leveled off a bit, although a lack of lower-priced cars in recent months has popped the average by a few thousand dollars, though we haven’t seen a car without a larger engine upgrade sell for over $120k this year.

The market for new 718 generation GT4s has continued to rise since 2021 from an average of about $110k and leveling off over the last few months between $125k and $130k. Low mileage, PTS shades, and upgraded engines still bring the money with sales over $150,000.

Our Red 981 GT4 is on the lower side of mileage at 10k and sold for $107,500, making it a new twelve-month high for non-modified GT4s. The Yellow 718 GT4 failed to sell at a high bid of $120,000, somewhat in line with recent comps in the $125,000 range.

So, what does that say about the market for GT4s? To me, 981s are looking strong as 718s have leveled off with signs of softening, with the winner of this bout most definitely going to the Carmine Red example with its new market high.
