Modified 1979 911 Turbo
A great backdate, from the other side of the pond.
Two modified 930 Turbos in two days!? I couldn’t resist as I did really love the Oslo Blue paint and backdated look of this one. Originally a German-market 1979 911 Turbo, this car’s work was completed in 2022/23 by Sportscar-Holland in the Netherlands.
That work included the installation of fiberglass bumpers, backdated long-hood, and ducktail rear spoiler along with polycarbonate rear-quarter windows and some other bits inspired by Porsche’s past. The car rolls on 15” Braid wheels with suspension modifications consisting of Bilstein shocks, stiffer torsion bars, and front strut brace and stabilizer bar. On the inside, the interior features BF-Torino seats with a roll bar and other RS-style interior elements.
Out back, the 3.3-liter engine was rebuilt with replacement pistons rings, cylinder-head studs, and bearings along with overhauled cylinder heads, refurbished K-Jetronic fuel-injection system, a larger intercooler, and a replacement 1.1-bar wastegate.
As we learned yesterday, RUF 930 Turbos are at the top of the custom-930 food chain followed by some fairly stout builds with heavily modded engines and other notable Porsche tuners. Being that this car was located in the Netherlands and was built by a tuner there as well, I’d say the final bid of $132,000 was about right.
