Of all the Porsche variants, the 964 is the choice when it comes to a platform for the perfect backdate. It’s the choice of Singer Vehicle Design and many other shops as it is the final iteration of the classic 911 shape before moving towards the more rounded 993, and it was the starting point for this beautiful build by Olsen Motorsports out of Chicago, IL.
Starting with a Canadian-market 1992 911 Carrera 2 Coupe, Olsen stripped the chassis down to the tub before chemically stripping the car of its original paint and adding a carbon-Kevlar roof, 4” wider carbon fiber fender flares, and an early 911-style carbon fiber bumper. The front fenders, hood, and doors were also replaced with carbon-Kevlar panels before the entire car was painted in a perfect shade of Purple. Not quite Aubergine, almost Ultra-Violet.
The interior has a bit more of a modern touch with a carbon fiber MOMO steering wheel and black leather and Alcantara trim. It’s also an audiophile dream with Hertz Mille Pro speakers, JL Audio amps, and a 10” subwoofer hooked up to a Porsche Classic head unit.
But who needs speakers when you have a custom-built 4.0-liter engine providing glorious sounds behind you? Built in-house, the engine features an LN Engineering rotating assembly, coated pistons, Ninemeister heads, RS Eurospec camshafts, a custom dual exhaust, individual throttle bodies, and MoTeC engine management with a custom wiring harness.
It sold for $275,000 yesterday on PCARMARKET which is more than likely a fraction of the build price of this fantastic build. It’s also a fraction of the price paid in June of 2022 when the car sold previously on PCARMARKET for $355,000. Even at its previous sales price, I'd consider this well-bought, but after an $80,000 loss in about a year, it’s even more of a bargain.
