The Widebody Market Appears To Soften

Good Morning! It looks like August is off to a hot start dollar volume-wise as we closed Friday out with almost $1.5m in sales. Our sell-through rate, on the other hand, shot back down to below 60% with yet another GT4 RS failing to sell along with a few other bid-ticket cars.

Legend has it that due to the economic conditions of the early 90s, Porsche feared they had ordered too many Turbo bodies and decided to produce a limited run of Turbo-bodied Carreras to celebrate 20 years of the 911. After selling through the planned 911 examples, a few more bodies were left over and offered to the American market as standard Carrera 4s without the anniversary badging.

This 1994 911 Carrera 4 Widebody is one of those 267 North American market examples and is finished in Polar Siver Metallic over Classic Grey leather and shows 64,000 miles on the odometer. This example was optioned with 8-way power-adjustable seats, an Alpine Porsche CD-2 radio with an amplifier, and a Power Sunroof. It presents extremely well in the photos with a very clean body, interior, undercarriage, and engine bay, although it is void of any paint meter readings. The car has a clean CarFax and comes with the original window sticker, books, and plenty of service stamps in the manual.

We last saw this car on Bring a Trailer in November 2021, where it sold for $222,000 with the same 64,000 miles on the odometer. Almost two years on, we see it here again, where it sold for a high bid of $215,033. The market has slid a bit since peaking in March 2022, with the average price dropping about $7,500, which is right in line with what we have here. With a slight drop, I, for one, would have put a few thousand miles on this one before letter her go. Fair price for both parties here.
