Porsche 911 R Pricing Update

Good Morning! I guess $1.2m is easy to hit when your top sale for the day is almost half a million dollars. Good thing, as only two other cars sold over $100k.

And those of you who voted for “Jerry’s Cars Always Bring The Money” in yesterday’s poll took home the prize with 57.14% of the votes.

SPOTLIGHT

Take the chassis of a GT3, and the engine of a GT3 RS, keep the look sleek like a normal 991 Carrera, and add in one very important bit that neither GT car had, and you have one of the greatest modern 911s ever built: the 911 R. With its 6-speed transmission, the 911 R was the only way you could get a GT engine with a manual transmission and being that it was super limited at only 991 units, it became an instant collectible.

Right out of the gate in 2016, 911 R’s commanded a premium with some dealers asking upwards of $699,000, which is almost 4x MSRP. By 2019 prices had settled a bit around $300,000 but like most other rare Porsches, they were back on the rise in 2021 and 2022 with the majority of cars selling for over $400k and a handful over $500k.

Our Spotlight car, this 2016 911 R is finished in the common White w/ Red Stripes and Black Graphics over Black Full Leather w/ Pepita Inserts. The car was purchased by the seller back in 2018 and added approximately 400 of the 685 miles on the odometer.

Cars with under 500 miles have brought over $500k recently, but that appears to be the cutoff unless the car is in a PTS shade or has CXX options like the 2,200-mile car that sold for $533,000 in September of last year. Our Spotlight car sold for a market correct price of $470,000 based on mileage and color combo. I do hope the buyer adds more than 400 miles during their stewardship, I know I would.
