Strong Money For An M505 Turbo
We’ve seen plenty of M505 Slant Nose 911 Turbos cross the auction block as of late but this most recent sale of a 1987 911 Turbo Coupe with the M505 option caught our eye because, amid the slew of congratulations in the comments, we saw quite a few “well-bought” comments as well. But was it?
Our Spotlight car, a later 3.3-liter turbo, is finished in a classic color combination of Silver Metallic over Black leather. It is fitted with optional front sport seats, 16” Fuchs allow wheels, a sunroof, and a limited-slip differential. With 45,000 miles on the odometer, it’s not a low-mileage cream puff but not grouped into the higher mileage bucket either.
Even with some use, the car presents very well with paint in excellent condition and an interior that looks as it should, with not too much wear. But speaking of paint, even though the car has a clean CarFax history paint meter readings appear to be fairly high on the driver’s side fender indicating some work was done although not mentioned in the listing.
Recent sales with similar mileage have been in the $120,000 range with one car hitting a high of $130,000. But this Slant Nose managed to bump the mid-mileage high another $5k selling for $135,000 yesterday on Bring a Trailer. So well-bought, that I’m not so sure of. But with three bidders in at the end and a buyer who was after this color in particular, I guess I’m not surprised that this Turbo reached a new high. Plus it’s in a classic color combination as opposed to the White and Red of other cars sold recently with this mileage.
I’d call this one a fair deal where both parties can be happy with the price and the new owner now has the matching classic to their 2008 TechArt Turbo.
