A Strong Sale for an Original Owner 911SC
Good Morning! And happy Monday. Not quite the weekend we had seven days ago, as the average price of the 22 cars on offer was fairly low, with only two examples cracking $100k. But that didn’t mean the market was soft, as we saw a twelve-month high for a 914 and a super-strong result for an original owner, 911SC. More on that one below.

Considered the second generation of the basic 911, Porsche’s 911SC carried with it the weight of extra luxury, safety, and emissions equipment, making it quite a different car than the light and nimble 911s of the past. Still, 911 sales remained strong, with 58,914 SCs sold during its six-year production run.
The market for 911SCs has remained fairly steady over the last five years, with the average price paid climbing from about $45,000 to $52,000 today. Unlike most 911 models, we didn’t see a sharp jump in the SC market post-COVID, instead just a steady climb with a slight dip at the beginning of 2020. Over the last twelve months, prices have ranged from a low of just below $40k to a top sale of $117,000 for a near-perfect 9,000-mile example.
Today’s Spotlight car, this 1982 911SC Coupe, may not have the low miles of that $117k car, but it has a lot going for it. First off, it’s a one-owner car with service history as thick as a good novel and even includes the original window sticker. Second, the Coupe is finished in special-order Petrol Blue Metallic over Cork leather upholstery and looks absolutely amazing. It’s also well-optioned for an ‘80s 911 with a power sunroof, automatic heating controls, and Option Group M06 giving the car 16” Fuchs wheels, fog lamps, cruise control, and sport suspension.
With 138,000 miles on the odometer, this all-original 911SC sold for a strong $93,911, well over comps with similar miles and our third-highest sale in the past twelve months. While some may think that the buyer overpaid, to have a car with a full history from new in a special color combination puts this one in the well-bought camp for me. They’re only original-owner cars once.
