I Thought The Mods On This 964 Would Hurt It. I Was Wrong

Good Morning! Another strong sell-through rate yesterday paired with quite the dollar volume thanks to 6 sales all over $100k. Looks like buyers are getting ready for summer cruising.

I’ve been wrong before and probably will be wrong again, but I didn’t think I’d get this one wrong. When I featured this 1990 911 Carrera 2 Coupe 5-Speed in last week’s New Listings section, I believed that the aftermarket accessories, fixed RS-style wing, and way-to-modern 996 Sport Techno wheels would place this one in the deal category.

Also, while I LOVE the Linen Grey paint over Burgundy leather interior, I had a few emails telling me I was crazy. It’s definitely not for everyone. Along with the upgraded visuals, our Spotlight car features Bilstein PSS9 Coilovers, an aftermarket exhaust, a Carbon Dynamic air intake, and a 911Chips tune. While the mods are quality, they too are not for everyone either.

But at least two bidders thought it was for them and that’s all that matters as this 964 sold for $130,000 yesterday on Bring a Trailer putting it right in line with recent comps over the last twelve months based on the mileage, so much for my deal. Based on this result, we might have seen another $20k here had this car been completely stock. Either way, I’m sure both the buyer and the seller are happy with the price paid here. Fair deal all around.
