The Only 992 Heritage Edition To Not Cross $200k
Good Morning! For a day with over 30 cars crossing the block both in-person and online, I’m very surprised our dollar volume barely squeaked past the $1m. Granted, the more expensive cars run on the 15th at Mecum and Barrett-Jackson, so we’ll see what the weekend brings!

Designed with elements from the ‘50s and ‘60s, Porsche’s 911 Targa 4S Heritage Edition was an ode to Porsche’s past and the second car produced from their Heritage Design Strategy which began with the 991 Speedster and most recently continued with the 992 Sport Classic. Limited to only 992 units worldwide, the 911 Targa Heritage Edition was a highly sought-after model on its debut with collectors clamoring for an allocation.
The Heritage Edition featured Exclusive Design wheels, Heritage Design Graphics including a Gumball on the doors sporting the number 50, and special Heritage Design badging throughout. The car was offered in a number of different colorways including Cherry Metallic over Bordeaux Red & Atacama Beige as seen on our 2021 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition Spotlighted above.
This single-owner car has roughly 2,000 miles on the odometer, all painted surfaces covered in PPF film and ceramic coating, and it comes with a matching 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition chronograph from Porsche Design. The CarFax history is clean and there is no mention of paintwork.
Being so new and with so few made, comps have been few and far between over the last five years with 6 cars on offer for a 50% sell-through rate. All sales and all high bids have been above the $200k mark which makes the sale of our Spotlight car at $195,000 surprising. Surprising that is until you look at the mileage. If this were any other car, 1,900 miles would be considered low mileage and we would have seen top dollar. But the six previous cars on offer had an average mileage of fewer than 200 miles.
Once you consider the fact that this car has 10x the mileage of all the others, $195,000 doesn’t look so bad. Both parties should be happy with this sale as the seller got a good price and was able to actually enjoy the car a little bit and the buyer doesn’t have to worry about adding a few more miles.
