Water-cooled engine… ugh. Runny-egg headlights… ew! For years Porsche’s 996 languished as the unloved 911 due to its replacement of the last of the air-cooled cars and controversial diversion from circular headlights. But it seems as though they have gotten through their awkward teenage years and have now grown into their looks as appreciation for the original water-cooled 911 grows.
Often cited as the “prettiest” of the 996s, the Carrera 4S was introduced in 2002 with AWD, Turbo Twist Wheels, a 3.6-liter naturally aspirated engine, and a Turbo wide-body giving it beautiful proportions, especially from the rear. Other tell-tales of a C4S are the red brake calipers and a continuation of the rear lightbar connecting the taillights.
This 2002 911 Carrera 4S Coupe 6speed is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over Black Full Leather. It features the Advanced Technic Package as well as Heated Front Seats and most importantly, only 770 miles on the odometer. The car is presented in absolutely stunning condition as you would expect for 770 miles with photos of the inside of the rims, pristine undercarriage, paint meter readings, and inspection report. If I had to nitpick, it appears the car only comes with one key.
As the lowest mileage example of a C4S offered in the last 5 years, one would expect a big number, maybe even Turbo money. And that’s exactly what the market produced. Our Spotlight car sold for double the average price of C4S’ at a new 5-year record of $81,000.
I for one would have put that money into a Turbo I could drive but if you are a 996 collector, you won’t find another C4S in this condition or with lower miles. Well bought for the collector that needed this for their collection, or anyone else for that matter.
