This 997 GTS Bucked The Pricing Trend

Good Morning! The sell-through rate fell a little bit but it’s back down to our average over the last few months while total dollar volume jumped over yesterday, not bad for a Tuesday.

Porsche launched the new 997 Carrera GTS in 2011 with an upgraded 3.8-liter engine producing 402 bhp, wider track, firmer suspension, center lock wheels, and Alcantara interior. Slotted between the Carrera S and GT3 with a base price of $103,100, the GTS was the only 2WD model that could be had with a wider body making it a very attractive offering.

Like other Porsche models, the 997 GTS was depreciating until the pandemic with prices raising until the peak of summer 2022. Since then prices have been sub-$100k with a high of $93,911 for a 54,143-mile example that sold in November of last year.

Today’s Spotlight car, this 2012 911 Carrera GTS Coupe 6-Speed, is finished in Carrera White over Black and features Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), a Rear Limited-Slip Differential, Sport Chrono Package Plus, Yellow Seat Belts, and more. This very well-optioned car has an aftermarket Fabspeed exhaust and shows only 25,900 miles on the odometer. The car was presented well with recent service records, and a clean CarFax, but no pictures of paint meter readings.

It sold yesterday on Cars & Bids for $110,500, a new high for the last 12 months and the first to sell over $100k since last summer. Options definitely helped the price here and considering it has half the mileage of our most recent high, $110k doesn’t seem all that bad. Well-bought in my opinion for a desirable variant of Porsche’s 997.
