Almost A New High For a 997.2 S

Good Morning! The upper end of the market made a comeback yesterday as only one car over $100k failed to sell. Still, the sell-through rate and dollar volume dropped a bit over the weekend as cars priced in the middle of the pack struggled to sell.

The second phase of the 997 was launched in 2008 as a 2009 model and featured a new engine, revised suspension, updated looks, and for the first time ever, Porsche’s new PDK transmission.

The 997.2 was a big jump from the 997.1 for a mid-cycle refresh; it wasn’t just all looks, and that’s reflected in the price as the average sales price over the last 12 months for a 997.1 Carrera S with Tiptronic transmission is $40,600 vs. $55,300 for the 997.2 Carrera S with PDK.

Today’s Spotlight car is one such 997.2 Carrera with PDK, but this 2011 911 Carrera S Coupe has low miles and a long list of options. Finished in Carrera White over Black leather, the car has only 28,000 miles on the odometer and shows as a low-mileage car should.

And then there are the options. As you can see in the picture above, the car is equipped with the factory Aerokit Cup package and also features Adaptive Sport Seats with painted backrests, BOSE Surround Sound, a SportDesign steering wheel, the Sport Chrono Package Plus, a limited-slip differential, PASM Sport Suspension, Sport tailpipes, and Carrara White painted wheels.

With all those goodies, it failed to sell at a high bid of $71,000. Cars with similar mileage have sold for $66,000 and $64,500 in the last twelve months, making the high bid quite reasonable given the bump in options. I’d like to imagine that buyer and seller are close on this one as the Buy Now on PCARMARKET is now set at $75,000. Let’s get a deal done!
