Third Time Isn't a Charm For The GT4 RS
Good Morning! Oh, what a day! I had a difficult time choosing which amazing Porsche to write about and we didn’t even have much of a contribution from Mecum or Barrett-Jackson as those auctions wrap up today.
Speaking of today, as soon as I hit send I’m off to our first Cars & Coffee of the year. Hope you enjoy your weekend behind the wheel!

It looks like the third time wasn’t the charm for GT4 RS’ here in the US as another car has gone unsold at $60k over MSRP. So how did we get here, and what does $60k over say about the market?
The first GT4 RS’ started hitting dealerships around the beginning of October last year but it took until January of this year to see the first one cross the auction block here in the US (a few EU cars were offered in Dec.). That first car was a Gentian Blue Weissach package car with delivery miles and it failed to sell at a high bid of $275,000. The second car listed was a White GT4 RS that was withdrawn after only 4 days online as the seller was contacted by their selling Porsche dealer.
One month on we have a third 2023 GT4 RS with delivery miles in a similar spec to the first car. Finished in Gentian Blue Metallic the car features the Weissach package and Black leather with Deep Sea Blue Race-Tex inserts. It went unsold at a high bid of $251,000, $25,000 less than the high bid of the first car.
That’s three down, how many more until we see a sale? It’s going to take an adjustment to seller’s expectations as the potential market appears to be cooling. Maybe a no-reserve auction or a PTS example will bring the big money flippers have been hoping for but for your run-of-the-mill GT4 RS, I doubt bids are going to get higher from here.
