A Softening Cayman S Market

Introduced for the 2006 model year, Porsche’s Cayman S was a fastback coupe version of their highly successful Boxster, from which it shared many components. Fitted with a 3.4-liter engine, the Cayman S delivered 295 hp with a 6-speed manual transmission. Although down in power, the Cayman S equaled the performance of the 911 Carrera around the Nordschleife thanks to its agile and extremely well-balanced chassis.

This 2007 Cayman S 6-Speed is finished in Carrera White over a Sea Blue and shows 37,600 miles on the odometer. Although light on the options, it features 18” Cayman S wheels, PSM, BOSE, and heated seats. Photographs look clean, and the car has an accident-free CarFax, although no paint meter readings are provided. Overall, a very nice-looking example.

Like many Porsche models, the Cayman S enjoyed a rise in average price post-COVID, going from an average of $25,000 at the beginning of 2020 to shy of $30,000 today. Over the last twelve months, sub-50k-mile cars have sold above that $30k mark, with only a handful selling below.

Our Spotlight car fell in the “handful” category, selling at a high bid of $29,900, making it only the second example with similar mileage to fall below the $30k floor, although just. I wouldn’t jump on the well-bought bandwagon, as prices have been softening for Cayman S’ since July of this year—a fair price paid for the current state of the market.
