A Second GT4 RS Sale

Good Morning! I guess you could call today an update to the GT market as both a GT4 RS, 992 GT3, and 991 GT3 all make big moves for their respective markets. Speaking of the market, it’s looking rather flat, but in a good way.

Well, folks, there you have it; we have a market for GT4 RS Weissach Package cars as this is now (only) the second one to sell at auction, and it sold for the exact same price as the first, $245,000—a little more than $65,000 over MSRP.

Since you are Porsche nerds, I won’t get too into the weeds about what a 718 Cayman GT4 RS is, but with the end of the combustion-engine Cayman/Boxster near, you could call this the Cayman’s Swan Song. Because of this, many thought these would have sky-high premiums over MSRP as soon as they hit the market about six months ago. Dealers were, and still are, asking $100k+ overs, but the auction market has dictated otherwise.

The first car to hit the market was immediately removed from Bring a Trailer as the seller was contacted by their respective dealer and kindly asked (with future allocation implications) to take down the car. The second car on auction failed to sell at a high bid of $275,000 in January this year, followed by another no-sale at $251,000 in April. Both Weissach Package cars.

Our first sale was a car with 335 miles offered at the Henderson Motor Series auction at the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum in May, which brought $245,000, followed by another no-sale at $230,000 for one with similar miles on Bring a Trailer just four days ago. Again, both Weissach Package cars.

They probably should have taken that $230,000 as this 2023 delivery-mile GT4 RS Weissach Package car brought $245,000. Will the next one bring the same money? We’ll have to wait and see, but I think we’ll see similar, if not less unless it’s PTS. So, was this one well-sold or well-bought? With only two comps, I’m just happy it sold.
