111k Targa Sells At A Peak

Good Morning! One sale shy of the $1m mark and back down into the ‘70s for our sell-through rate. Still, when you look at where we were this time last week, I’m pretty happy with yesterday’s results.

SPOTLIGHT

Based on the picture above, you can probably guess that today’s Spotlight is going to fall in the well-sold category. Beautiful photography? Check. Beautiful color? Check. But that’s only half the story.

This 1988 911 Targa is finished in a rare shade of Lagoon Green Metallic over Grey Green leather with a Black Targa roof and black-centered 16” Fuchs wheels. The color is original to the car but the paint was refinished at some point to address a clearcoat failure. The interior, engine bay, and undercarriage show wear more in line with the mileage. Not terrible, but not perfect.

Mechanically the car is presented in very sound condition with early servicing done at Porsche dealerships with dealer stamps in the maintenance book followed by plenty of service invoices from years past leading up to this sale.

The range for 3.2 liter Targas with this kind of mileage leading up to this listing was between $50,000 and $60,000. Lower mileage cars, and I’m talking those with ¼th less mileage, have sold in the upper $90s range recently. So for this one to sell for almost $80k at $78,911 with 111,000 miles in today’s market is surprising. But then again, look at those pictures and that color. Then add in a solid service history and the documented repaint and you start to see why this 3.2 G50 Targa popped. Well-sold.
