$1.2m For a 911 That’s Not a Singer
As far as the hierarchy goes for 964s, the king is the rare as hen’s teeth 3.6 S “Package” Turbo. They rarely come up for sale and when they do, they don’t usually sell. Well, not this time around.
Our Spotlight car, the 1994 Turbo S Package car pictured above, found a new home yesterday on Bring a Trailer for an astonishing $1,265,000. This particular car is not new to the auction scene having failed to sell at RM Sotheby’s Porsche-only sale in 2018 and then being listed at Issimi.
So what makes the Package car a million-dollar 911? Fitted with the X88 option, the 3.6-liter engine develops 380hp at the rear wheels and is limited to just 17 examples. On the outside, the body isn’t much different from other 964 Turbos save for an intake on the sides poised to suck in small animals and gobs of air to feed the turbos.
A special car that will only appreciate from here, the seller was smart to wait until they got their money out of it and the buyer got a crown jewel for their collection. Well done to both the seller and buyer for getting the job done where others have failed.
