Mid-70s 911 S’ Will Have Their Day
If after seeing these images Ice Green Metallic doesn’t become one of your favorite Porsche colors, we’d be stunned. And the comment section of this 1976 911S Coupe seems to completely agree. And commentators rarely agree on anything.
But most importantly, quite a few bidders thought so as well as our Spotlight car sold for $77,911, about $20,000 over the average price for a ’74-77 2.7l S. Being an unrestored car with not much known about its previous history and having sat for almost a decade but with most known issues ironed out, had this car been your average White, Silver, or Black, we wouldn’t have seen quite this number.
Also interesting, 2 out of the 3 top sales this past year were for Ice Green Metallic cars. The highest sale however for 2.7-liter S’ went to this 116,000-mile example finished in a very rare shade of Coppa Florio Blue Paint. When you see it, the miles don’t matter at all.
Prices on these cars have been fairly flat for the last few years staying steady from the pre-COVID market through the past year’s post-COVID boom. They say a rising tide lifts all ships but these haven’t seen the lift….. yet. That being said, we consider this one well-bought with quite the upside on a car you can still put some miles on. Just keep that paint shiny.
