A 964 Stolen In Paris
Take the already rare Porsche 964 Carrera RS with only 2,276 produced, whittle it down to roughly 280 produced by making it an even more hardcore racing variant, the N/GT, and then add the M003 racing safety devices option code and what you have is one of the rarest 964s ever made.
While the standard Carrera RS has softened a bit in the last few months, cars with similar mileage to the 1992 Porsche 964 Carrera RS M003 N/GT pictured above are still bringing on an average of $225,000. So one would expect a rare bird like our Spotlight car to easily be a $300k+ car… but it sold for $259,105.
While other markets have softened, top-of-the-food-chain models are still bringing top dollar. So why did this example fail to cross the $300,000 number? One could attribute it to the economic conditions in the EU as we’ve seen quite the difference in prices when looking at most cars, even for cars like the RS N/GT.
We still have two more days of auction action from Paris, but our Spotlight car has stolen the show by being stolen. With a much softer market overseas and an exchange rate in our favor, I wonder if we’ll see a few of these coming stateside and being offered at sales later this year.
