A 997.1 GT3 Soars Above Average

A little over two years ago, a 997.1 GT3 would rarely top the $100k mark; when it did, it was only by a few thousand dollars. Today, a 997.1 GT3 rarely drops below the $100k mark, and this one certainly didn’t, selling for $138,000 on Bring a Trailer.

Many believe that the 997 generation of the 911 is the last of the true analog 911s, and the GT cars are the finest examples, naturally. Our Spotlight car, a 2008 example, is finished in Guards Red over Dark Gray leather and Alcantara and optioned with Bi-Xenons, Sound Package Plus, Heated Seats, Chrono Package, and a host of Exclusive Options.

The rarer shade and plenty of exclusive options pushed this car more than $20,000 above the median price of $115,000 even though it had a tad over 22,000 miles on the odometer. The buyer definitely paid a premium for the exclusivity to not show up to their next track day in a run-of-the-mill GT3.

All-in-all I’d call this one well sold with the buyer probably making a few dollars and having enjoyed one hell of a car over the last few years of appreciation. Is it well-bought? Depending on the mileage and timing of the next sale, we shall see.
