A More Reasonable Targa, Maybe?

After yesterday’s ’72 Targa sale at over $1m (which we’re still scratching our heads about), we were anxious to see what the market for a soft-window Targa really is. But this 1968 911S Targa fell short with a $140,000 bid over on PCARMARKET. But to be honest, we weren’t really surprised.

This car has been no stranger to the auction scene this year first being offered on Collecting Cars in February where it failed to sell and then again in April… where it failed to sell again. Then in July, it was offered at Articurial’s Le Mans Classic sale where, drum roll please, it failed to sell yet again.

So by now, the astute among you might have guessed that the location of the car is not in the US. It was in fact being sold from France to a primarily US audience based on the auction venue. Maybe the seller thought nobody would notice or perhaps the fourth time would be a charm.

Either way, this car was destined to be a no-sale with one German bidder present and others hoping to steal a soft-window Targa to import into the US market and make a quick buck. Well-not-sold.
