All The Money For This Outlaw Apparently Wasn’t Enough For The Seller
It looks like the third time wasn’t a charm for this 1964 Porsche 356 Outlaw that was withdrawn not once, but twice from RM Sotheby’s Open Roads sales in June and October of last year.
The Outlaw is an older restoration put together by a number of different Porsche specialists in the UK and was acquired by its current owner from another RM Sotheby’s auction and shipped here to the US. The paint and interior still look very good but the worked 912 engine shows quite a bit of rust and wear, especially considering how nice the rest of the car appears.
Our Spotlight car reached a high bid of $97,000, unfortunately, that wasn’t even close to what the seller hoped to get as the car is now being offered in PCARMARKET’s Deal Tank for $150,000. For that kind of money, you can get a beautifully restored minty-fresh 356C or buy a driver-quality car and “Outlaw” it to your taste.
$97k was right on the money for a nicely modified but older restoration. I can’t see this car finding more at any other venue, and as you know, they’ve tried three times already.
