Current market high for a 718 Spyder

$163,500 for a 718 Spyder! This recent high sale for a Spyder has me thinking, it had to be the color, right?

To find out if values are color sensitive I decided to take a look at the entire 718 markets as the Spyder market is just too small a sample size. When you look at all 718s available, we see that the price varies roughly +/- $3,000 from the mean on these cars.

But how do we figure out what actually drives this variation? Luckily for us one of my favorite YouTube channels, Fourwheel Trader, touched on this subject recently. He found that the main driver in price variance for the 718 markets is the year with a 66.1% relative contribution to explaining price variation followed by mileage at 25%.

And color? Color only affects the price variation by 5.4%. So why did this Spyder sell for almost $40,000 over the recent average of $120,000? Well, the super-low mileage of 687 miles and only being a year old allowed this buyer to skip the wait and put a practically new Spyder in their garage today.
