Is MSRP + Still A Thing?
The internet is always an interesting place where you never know who is behind a screen name or behind the stories they tell, especially with regard to selling cars. The owner of this delivery-mile 2022 Targa GTS was selling the car due to spinal surgery but has a 2023 coming in right behind it in a similar spec. To sell as well?
Seller stories aside, our Spotlight car sold for $203,000 on our first day of bidding after the holiday. With a sticker price of $193,070 and Florida sales tax of 6%, the seller came out just shy of even. The buyer? Well, they were able to skip the 2-3 year wait and potential dealer markup depending on their relationship ($) with their local dealer.
Since the buyer most likely was unable to order their own without playing the dealer game, I’d consider this well-bought. They basically walked into a “dealer” and bought the car they want for a little over MSRP. Pretty much the norm these days if the opportunity presents itself.
As far as the seller? I think they are lucky they made out without too much of a loss as I’m sure they had their hopes on a nice profit when they ordered this car over a year ago when the market was raging.
