Is The 992 GT3 Our Bellweather Car?

Despite what’s been happening in the Porsche market, particularly to cars above $100,000, there are a few cars that appear to be immune, for now.

Our Spotlight car, this 2022 911 GT3 Touring 6sp, sold yesterday on PCARMARKET for $288,000, right on the average sale price for the last month. Not too high, not too low. But when you take a closer look at the 2022 GT3 market, that average price line divides the Touring models from the Standard models like the Mason-Dixon Line, with Tourings representing the North above $288k and Standard GT3s and PDK Tourings representing the South below $288k.

So for this car to sell on the line, below most other Tourings but above most other Standard GT3s and PDK Tourings, it makes one wonder if we have a case for a softening market even at the top of the newer 911 GT range.

We’ve seen this softening over the last few months in the European market which has been hit a bit harder economically than the US. But as interest rates continue to creep up and the threat of recession looms, those willing to pay over sticker might be thinking differently come to the end of the year.
