It’s like Christmas… but in October

As online auctions grew over the last two years, we’ve seen more and more full collections come to market on many of the different online platforms. Once only the realm of the legacy auction houses, this is becoming a new normal, even a holiday.

DriverSource, a dealer in Houston, TX, is following up on their successful 2021 Oktmotorfest with the sale of 11 low-mileage modern classics and well-restored sportscar icons. The most Halloween-worthy car is a 2003 996 Turbo X50 in Zanzibar, the perfect pumpkin-colored Porsche.

Other Porsche offerings include:

  • 1955 356 Pre-A Speedster

  • 1966 912 Sunroof Coupe

  • 1969 911E Soft Window Targa

  • 1969 911S R-Grouppe Coupe

  • 1978 928

  • 1987 930 Turbo

  • 1989 911 Speedster

  • 1992 968 Coupe

  • 1996 993 Targa

With recent online sell-through rates hovering around 70%, I’m wondering which cars might fail to sell. If the recent market affects this sale, I wouldn’t be surprised if the transaxle cars or the 993 Targa stay in inventory.

The first cars go live this week with the remainder trickling out throughout the month. So grab a pumpkin-spice latte and happy bidding! We’ll follow up to see how this collection fares once the Octmotorfest celebrations end.
