N/A 993 for Turbo Money
It’s not every day that a normally aspirated 993 sells for the same money you could find a turbo for, but here we have a 1997 993 Coupe bringing all the money at $220,000.
You might be thinking maybe the car has only delivery miles or it was a celebrity-owned car, but that’s not the case. What drove this car into the low $200s is what’s under the hood.
You see, this particular 993 is optioned with the rare X51 engine package, an option we never saw here in the states. Checking the X51 option not only gave you a sport exhaust system and some more power but that power cam courtesy of an increase in displacement to 3.8 liters giving you 296 horsepower.
With both the 993 GT2 and 993 RS sporting 3.8-liter engines, this little 911 joins some rarified air but at a fraction of the price. So for $220,000, which would you take: the turbocharged 993 off the poster on your childhood wall, or this car that you probably didn’t even know existed?
