No-Sale: Carrera GT Edition
If you were brave enough to venture into the comments section of this 2005 Porsche Carrera GT on Bring a Trailer, you would think the sky was falling for the CGT market as the car failed to reach the $2,000,000 mark.
The final bid, however, was spot on the money at $1,601,000. The seller getting much more than that was a pipe dream and being that they purchased the car new for $450,00, they should have taken the money and ran.
Recent Carrera GT sales for cars with similar mileage have been in the $1.5m range with a recent sale of a car in a much rarer shade of red at $1,765,000. This week saw a Belgian car sell for $1.3m with 10,000 more miles than are featured car, so based on what the market is doing right now, low mileage in a normal color should have sold for $1.6m.
Perhaps the seller will put on another 1,000 miles over the next few years and wait for the top of the next credit cycle to try their luck again.
