With the recent rise in popularity of off-road Cayenne builds, one starts to wonder how these modifications affect pricing in today’s market. Typically, modified cars do not sell for more than un-modified due to a number of factors.

With the old adage, “there’s an ass for every seat”, you are typically limiting the number of “asses” when you modify a car and the demand is low. Plus there is always a vast difference in the quality of installation. These statements hold true whether you’re looking at a street car modified for track use, a turbo modified by a tuner, or in our case, a Cayenne modified for off-road use.

But with the surge in Cayenne builds over the last few years, how is this affecting the market?

For this, we take a look at 955 Cayenne S’ as they seem to be a popular platform to modify from due to price and aftermarket support. The graph below shows recent sales based on mileage with the highly modified Cayennes sold in the past year noted by orange dots.

And as you can see, every peak in the market over the last 12 months has been a highly modified Cayenne S bucking the norm of other modified markets. This leads us to wonder, how many of these were bought low, jacked-up, and then sold high?
