Resale Red Strikes Again?
Just how collectible is Porsche’s entry-level car from 1967? So collectible that Keith Martin’s Sports Car Market Pocket Price Guide doesn’t include the car in their 2022 edition. Based on prices, I highly suggest they make the addition for 2023.
This 1967 912 Coupe finished in Polo red sold on Bring a Trailer yesterday for $71,500 after a slew of last-minute bidders playing psychological games with each other bid the car up in small increments and then large as the clock counted down to 0:00.
Like everything else Porsche, a few years ago this car would have been much less. Noted flaws in the older repaint, ok brightwork with some discoloration, and a rebuilt non-original engine would have placed this #4 driver condition car at around $30,000. But not today.
While some Porsche markets are starting to show some softening, the 912 market is not. Maybe it’s the value in the 911 look for considerably (for now) less money. It certainly isn’t the performance. Hammer down, I’d call this one well sold.
