The Little 914/6 That Could
With the sale of this 1971 914/6, earlier this month at Bonham’s The Zoute Sale at a recent high of $112,011 and plenty of 914/6s offered online in the $100k range at classic dealers around the country, you would assume that the market for these little go-karts was still red-hot.
But one sale doesn’t make a market. Truth be told, 914/6s have been on a downward trend since a number of $100k sales last summer with this being the first to creep back up into that territory since. Most cars have found new homes in the $70-85,000 range with a number of projects selling for much less.
Does that mean that this car did not deserve its winning bid of $112k? Absolutely not. Our Spotlight car was a fully matching numbers example with a no-expense-spared restoration undoubtedly costing the seller more than this car sold for. Well bought my friend.
