The RS Market Remains Strong. Really Strong.

When I first started researching the 964 Carrera RS’ it was to see what the impact of the car’s 25th birthday had on the market as it was eligible for import into the United States in 2017, which also coincided with the rise of Online Auctions.

Lo and behold… it wasn’t much. The car’s value didn’t surge more than the typical price rise we’ve seen since that period. Granted, the once un-loved 964 began to come into its own in the mid-teens and has steadily increased since.

This Rubystone Red Carrera RS however was a chart-topper selling almost $200,000 over the average price hammering down at $469,999. An unbelievable jump, but well deserved for a notable example of a special car.

Our Spotlight car had a lot going for it. First off, Rubystone Red is a rare and desirable color for a 964 RS. Then add to the fact that this was a near-perfect low mileage example with only 9,700 miles sold by one of the most respected Porsche experts with plenty of documentation to boot.

But $200,000 over average? Well, at least two bidders thought so. If this was a normal color, I’d say this was just well-sold as other cars around this price point had much lower miles. But, Rubystone. As long as the new owner keeps the miles off, I’d say this was well-bought when we look at the market again in a few years.
