Wholesale Wednesday: GT3 RS For a Steal?
This week’s top wholesale sale of a 2019 911 GT3 RS at $219,000 seems like the correct price with the average selling price of non-Weissach RS’ hovering around the $250k mark on online auctions and dealers asking well north of that on their websites. But the kicker is this car had 25,178 miles on the odometer making it the highest mileage RS we’ve seen offered for sale currently.
So did this dealer overpay or will it be a quick buck with a fun car to have in inventory?
If you look at similar 2019 cars offered for sale online today, the highest mileage cars are in the mid-teens and asking anywhere from $240-270,000. But when you dig deeper and peek at how long these cars have been on the market, you see that they have been sitting at these prices and have even been marked down as much as $9,000 recently.
The online auction market tells a similar story. Over the last year, prices have been fairly stable but the last four months have started to see a downward trend. Also, market volume has significantly dropped off since the peak in the first six months of the year with only 4 of the 19 total cars offered crossing the block in the same four-month period.
With the most recent sale of a 2019 911 GT3 RS for $253,000 and sub-2,000 miles six days ago, what could this 25,000 possibly be worth to the retail buyer?
